Except for Me, Imagination, and Solitude
This video is based on a poem by Ebrahim Monsefi, an Iranian poet who was a pioneer of music and modern poetry from southern Iran. His melodies, inspired by the music of Iran’s southern provinces, with modern lyrics and arrangement, transformed Hormozgan’s folklore music into world music, which is still hummed by many people. From the beginning of the new movement in Persian literature, Monsefi’s poems were published in periodicals of the time, such as Khusheh, edited by Ahmad Shamlou, Abnus, Tamasha, and the music magazine Musighi. His poems were also published as part of interviews conducted by Cyrus Tahbazan with modern poets of southern Iran in Ferdowsi magazine.
Except for Me, Imagination, and Solitude is part of an ongoing project.
